The Southern Global Change Program is a research work unit and program of the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station.  Our research scientists and support staff work hard to contribute new science every year in the areas of forest ecosystems, water quality, biodiversity, and wildfires, all with an emphasis on climate change and global warming.

The SGCP was formed in 1990 as a part of the Congressionally mandated US Global Change Research Program. Our goal has been to study the interactive effects of pollution and global climate change on southern forests.
