Conference Website

The Southern Global Change Program (SGCP) is part of the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (EFETAC) research work unit (RWU-4854) and program of the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station.  Our research scientists and support staff work hard to contribute new science every year in the areas of forest ecosystems, water quality, biodiversity, and wildfires, all with an emphasis on climate change and global warming.

SGCP has regional, national, and international responsibilities in several key research areas focusing on healthy forest ecosystems and addressing forest health risks. Using a combination of computer models, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and field research in its integrated assessments, SGCP is a Forest Service leader in examining multiple stress impacts across multiple natural resource sectors.

The SGCP was formed in 1990 as a part of the Congressionally mandated US Global Change Research Program. Our goal has been to study the interactive effects of pollution and global climate change on southern forests.
