SGCP Hosts Chinese Scientists Tour of the Southern Research Station

Headed by Dr. Shirong Liu, Forest Ecologist and Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, a group of six Chinese scientists visited Eastern Forest Environment Threat Center, Coweeta Hydrological Laboratory, and the Smokey Mountain National Park during June 19-21, 2008. Hosted by Danny Lee, the group toured the Station Headquarter and gave a seminar on overview of forestry research in China. Hosted by Katharine Elliot, the Chinese scientists toured the Coweeta facilities and gave a seminar on forest hydrological research in China. The group is especially interested in reforestation ecology and effects of forest restoration on water resources. Ge Sun, Southern Global Change Program of EFETC invited and accompanied the delegate for the entire trip.
